Our Mission Statement

Kerswell Kids Preschool is a community provision whose aim is to provide affordable sessional preschool care for children aged 2 to 4 years of families living in Whitton and the surrounding areas.

Our ethos is to offer children of all abilities, cultures and religions the opportunity to develop and grow in a secure environment that makes the child and the parent/carer feel happy and safe.

Our Aims & Objectives

  • To create a stimulating, caring and safe environment for ALL children in our care.

  • To create a developmentally appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of each individual child.

  • To take account of the children's needs arising from race, culture, language and religion and to actively promote the development of positive self image within the children.

  • To create a non-sexist atmosphere by introducing appropriate toys, books and games to encourage equal development of both sexes.

  • To eliminate racism by welcoming ethnic minority contributions to the policies and practises of the Preschool using positive images of different ethnic minorities and cultures using posters, toys, food, clothing and exploring festivals.

  • To provide places for children with differing and additional needs, providing staff that are trained to give the child and parent/main carer support.

  • To work with the local authority to provide funded places for all 3 & 4 year olds and the most needy 2 year olds.

  • To work in partnership with parents, carers and develop and maintain strong links with other professionals and to have an involvement with the local community.

  • To encourage parents/carers to become involved with the Preschool activities and events.

  • To support staff through their continuing professional development, enabling them to develop skills and confidence

Early Years

Pupil Premium

The Preschool can claim EYPP funding for eligible families. The extra funding is paid directly to the Preschool to help raise the quality of the child's individual early education in the setting.

The Preschool will plan the most effective way of using the money to promote the child’s learning experience.

Equal Opportunities

Every person within the Preschool has a fundamental right to equality of opportunity and we aim to provide this irrespective of religious persuasion, ethnic origin, cultural or linguistic background, gender, social group or disability.

We believe that through our learning and development we promote positive attitudes towards diversity amongst all children and staff. We recognise the importance of the people in the Preschool community as our most valuable resource and we are committed to developing the potential of both children and adults.
